A three-year maximum contract extension is coming up for Anthony Davis.

Davis, 30, has agreed with the Los Angeles Lakers and is set to extend his contract through the 2027-28 season, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. He will earn 186 million dollars upping the total to over 270 million dollars over the next five years, as noted in the latest update on his contract status.

The experienced forward/center has two years remaining on his current contract, including a player option for the 2024-25 season. However, the reported extension instead guarantees three additional seasons.

The 2022-23 campaign was his fourth as a member of the Lakers, since switching from the New Orleans Pelicans via trade in 2019. Averaging 25.1 points, 12.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.1 steals per contest shaped his stats across 72 games played between the Regular Season and the Playoffs.

The four-year stint produced an NBA championship run in 2020 alongside LeBron James but followed up with a first-round exit from the 2021 Playoffs, elimination from the 2022 Playoffs, and a four-game sweep at the hands of the Denver Nuggets and Nikola Jokic in the 2023 Playoffs.

Entering the league as the NCAA champion with Kentucky in 2012, the Chicago native was selected first overall by the New Orleans Hornets. He stayed in New Orleans for seven years, emerging as a regular in the All-Star Game from 2014 until his exit, despite being frequently slowed down by injuries.
